Monte Dutton is a writer. For most of his life, he has written about sports, and his focus was auto racing for two decades. He has written non-fiction books about high school football, NASCAR, and music.
Now he focuses on fiction, in the form of short stories here, a collection (Longer Songs) and six novels — The Audacity of Dope (2011), The Intangibles (2013), Crazy of Natural Causes (2015), Forgive Us Our Trespasses (2016), Cowboys Come Home (2016), and Lightning in a Bottle (2017) — published so far. Two more are in the works.
And he writes songs and plays a little guitar.
From time to time, Monte also writes about books and writing here.
The short stories here are works of fiction. Names, characters, places, and incidents either are products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual events, or locales, or persons, living or dead, is entirely coincidental and should not be considered real or factual.
