A Selfie Portrait

This morning I started fooling around with this laptop — okay, this is a tablet linked to a keyboard — and I started tinkering with the Fresh Paint app that came with it.

As you may know, sometime in 2014, I started drawing simple sketches to illustrated my short stories here and the blogs at montedutton.com. I don’t see Fresh Paint becoming my easel (actually, my sketch pad), but it’s possible that I might start touching up my sketches with it.

Possible, I say.

What I did this morning was take a selfie — as a general rule, I don’t care for them — or, to be more accurate, hit the button inadvertently, thus cutting my face off at the chin in the resulting picture, and I turned the selfie to black and white, and I started filling it in with color, using the app.

Ted Turner colorized movies much better, but, then again, I don’t like that, either.

When I got through fooling around, I thought, well, this may have some short-term novelty value, so I decided to place my “fresh paint” at the top of this site for a while.

I doubt it will stay there long, so laugh, shake your head, whatever effect this amateurish depiction of me has on you, and I’ll regain my wits in the near future.

Or, God forbid, try another one.

My new novel, Crazy of Natural Causes, will be available for reservation at the end of the month and out in July. Why not check out the books I’ve written before? http://www.amazon.com/Monte-Dutton/e/B005H3B144/ref=sr_ntt_srch_lnk_1?qid=1416767492&sr=8-1
